Sea Poison

The Sea Poison series started with one seed pod from a Sea Poison tree in Hawai’i. The pod’s shape and the use of its toxin by the indigenous to stun fish, evoked a relationship to the role of jellyfish in the ocean.

Each Sea Poison sculpture is an asymmetrical bloom of porcelain bodies floating in light and chain, channeling the fluid experience of witnessing jellyfish adrift at sea.

3D printings of a pod in varying sizes are used to create original molds. The cast porcelain pods are then detailed, dried, and kiln fired. Each pod is placed using hand-strung plated bronze jewelry chain threaded with individual LED lights.  The canopy is plated and mirror finished brass.
